Trees with texture

The last few days have been extremely windy and Charlie and I have had to pick our walkies times very carefully. Being a rather small terrier he's been in danger of flying off, although being close to the ground obviously helped him stay paws on ground. It hasn't prevented us from experiencing eye-wateringly cold horizontal blasts, unfortunately, but one day I managed to take the camera with me as I'd found a different route and some interesting trees.

The one above looks very like a dryad's bottom, doesn't it?

The other is a dear little house for Mrs Tiggywinkle to curl up in with a good book. It only needs a shiny red front door and a little window.

Great trees. They ooze age and knowledge. I wonder how old they are!

They look very old, especially Mrs Tiggywinkle's...it's little more than a stump. The line of trees provide a welcome shelter from the prevailing wind on walks. It's not a real footpath, that takes the exposed route, but it skirts a field and there's a tiny watery ditch in which I found a heavy horse's shoe and took it home for luck.

Fab pics, I love trees, infact we have an audio tape of 'trees' around Britain, lots of descriptions of weird and wonderful trees.

I sometimes wish I could shrink myself so I could move into one of those trees. Hopefully (!) we'll be house hunting later in the year and I'm not looking forward to it one bit.
Anybody want to buy a nice Scribbly Cottage in Lincolnshire? Going cheap? ;-)
